Formed under the name "Union Universal Coleccionistas" in 1991 by Cuban exile Manuel Domingo, the group started as a club for Spanish speaking worldwide stamp collectors interested in corresponding and exchanging. It has since expanded to include English speaking collectors.

While the majority of members are philatelists, other collecting interests such as coins, banknotes, phone cards and alike are also represented in the membership of several hundred from around the globe. Their bi-lingual publication, "UNION", is published three times a year with articles of general interest and the latest membership list. Dues are $5 per year.
